About the Event
Mahjong & Margaritas is a lively and stylish afternoon bringing women together for mahjong, signature margaritas, light bites, and plenty of laughter — all in support of the River Discovery Center.
This boutique event is designed for experienced players looking for a fun, social atmosphere with a little friendly competition. With limited seating, Mahjong & Margaritas offers a unique opportunity to connect with friends while supporting a meaningful cause.
All proceeds benefit the River Discovery Center Education Programs and Exhibit Updates!

What to Expect
This event is designed for guests with some mahjong experience. While it’s not a formal tournament, players should be comfortable with the basics of the game. Blanks will not be used in game play.
Bring a friend, gather a table, or come meet new players!

Do I need to know how to play Mahjong?
Yes - this event is best for players with basic experience.
What kind of Mahjong will be played?
American Mahjong with no blanks will be played.
Can I request to sit with friends?
Tables will be first come, first serve. We will also rotate tables through out the evening so you will get to meet new friends as well.
What's included with my ticket?
Mahjong play, 2 drink tickets, light desserts and a custom event glass.
Will there be non-alcoholic drinks available?
Absolutely! We will have non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails available!
What should I wear?
We suggest "summer chic" or "resort casual" - think bright colors, fun prints, and anything that makes you feel festive for a stylish afternoon out.
Do I need to bring my own Mahjong set or card?
Mahjong sets and racks will be provided. We do ask that you bring your own 2026 card, extra's will be available but not enough for everyone.
Will food be served?
Yes! Guests will enjoy light bites and sweet treats through the afternoon. This is not a full meal, so plan accordingly.
Will there be a tournament or is it casual play?
This event features social play with light structure and rotations. It is designed to be fun and engaging rather than highly competitive.
What is the refund policy?
Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to another guest.
Is there parking available?
Yes, parking is available on the street in front of the museum. You may also park in the large open lot off Broadway.
