About Us

Our Mission

The River Discovery Center stimulates curiosity and understanding of our nation's vital river system through real stories and interactive exhibits for people of all ages.

Our History

The River Discovery Center is located within the oldest surviving antebellum building in Paducah's historic downtown. This two-story, double-pile, brick structure was built in 1843 to house the newly formed branch Bank of Louisville. It later became the original location of Henry A Petter Supply Company. Today, the beautifully restored second floor, the Founders Room, overlooks the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers.
Our building now serves as a center for children and adults, visitors and tourists to explore the wonders that are our nation's great rivers.
